Mother's Board Ministry
The Mother's Board of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church was the vision of Pastor Emeritus Dr. Robert L. Fairley established in 1978. Dr. Fairley appointed a few ladies, 55 years and older, who would dedicate themselves to serving the Lord by praying for the pastor and his wife, Deacons and Deaconesses, Trustees, church leaders, ministries and members of New Hope. The Mothers of the church also pray for the community, state, country and the world. Mother Myrtle Ross, one of the charter members, helped to organize the board. The members of the Mother's Board have expanded their ministry to include calling and praying for the sick and shut-in members of the church, ministering to the young ladies of the church and the members of the Mission Ministry.
In 2019, Dr. Michael Andrew Owens wanted to honor the ladies of the Mother's Board and a celebration was organized. The ladies of the Mother's Board are honored the second Sunday of July at the 10 a.m. service during the Mother's Appreciation Day.
The Mother's Board members share a special relationship with the Lord. Each mother has a special scripture or saying that best represents their relationship with the Lord.
~ Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
