I am so thankful to God for the privilege to pastor one of the Lord’s New Testament Churches!

I am new to the area having moved up from Modesto where I have lived since moving to California with my family in 1981 when I was 13. I have been married to my wonderful wife and best friend Jackie for 18 years. She is a tremendous strength and encouragement to me. We have two beautiful children, Tyler who is 13 and Shelby who is 9.

We are excited to enter this new chapter in our lives. Oroville is a great community and a beautiful area in which to live. We all are looking forward to getting to know and investing our lives in this community more and more as time goes on.

I have had the privilege of serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader, song leader, and served as a Deacon at Tully road Missionary Baptist Church in Modesto California. I surrendered to the call of the ministry early in 2007. I am so excited to serve the Lord here in Oroville.

My wife and I have also enjoyed working with the youth in the churches in which we have served. We helped organize a statewide youth event as well as worked with teenagers in a program that was called Discovery. It is such a joy as well as a challenge to work with young people and introduce them to the person and work of Jesus Christ. I firmly believe that we must invest in the ongoing Christian education of our young people. We need to show them that the truths that we find in scripture have an application and relevance for us today. God is the same yesterday, today and forever! The bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6 to “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it”.

We as adults need to also come to realize the same thing. I believe that a growing, personal, relationship with Jesus Christ is essential not just for our eternal security, although that is the most important benefit; it gives us the proper perspective of the times in which we live. We live in times of great unrest and turmoil in politics, society, our work lives and our families. Because of the idea that truth is something that is relative, we are experiencing a famine of truth in our culture today. We need the truth of God’s word more than ever! I am committed to communicating this truth. I believe it is necessary for Christians to develop a strong Christian worldview. In so doing we bring the truth’s revealed to us in God’s word to bear in every area of our lives. Our walk with the Lord is not just a “Sunday” experience, but a continuous, ongoing walk. When we come to understand this, we grow to become more and more like Jesus; we discover that God has a plan and a purpose for our lives.
